Just think where the openwheel racing world might be if Indy had not been allowed to dominate, but was treated the same as all other venues. The races were close on all types of tracks and Michaels was one of the star's, alongside Unser Jr, Rahal, Tracy and Mansell. 1993 was in many ways the wrong year for him to try F1, Senna was at the height of his powers, while Mclaren were hampered by customer spec Ford. Michael was brave and sometimes bravery rewards, sometimes not, but personally I prefer to see drivers go for it every time. Early 90’s Indycar was excellent and very competitive. Bit of a shame he didn't stick at it for another year. Just watched the first lap at donnington again.
