Lockheed Martin’s A2100A telecommunications satellite costs exactly $100 million. Perhaps the FIA plan to monitor the airwaves next year in order to enforce their budget cap.

It’s ok – you can mail your question directly to Max. He’s been making ominous noises about maybe not retiring so I’m sure he’ll be open and honest about it when you ask. Then again, the FIA is a democracy only insofar as it’s just the country delegates who he needs to explain anything to in order to have their continued suport. You’re a mere enthusiast like me so you won’t raise even a the merest hint of a blip on his radar.

This is an excellent question. If this had happened in industry, you can bet your life that investigative journalists of major newspapers would hot on the trail of where the Mclaren fine has gone.
with the honourable exception of Sir Jackie Stewart, no one has had the nerve to ask some probing questions. It is a disgrace.

I still wonder if McLaren paid the published amount of that fine, I can’t believe Ron Dennis would have taken that enormous penalty without a fight.

So, in the finest traditions of FIA non appliance with Corporate Governance, we’ll never be told. If you remember, the fine money was to be split amongst the nteams along the pit-lane. Did that include Super Aguri and Honda? I guess we all might think where the money has gone…but we couldn’t possibly comment!
