Motor Sport will mark its 1,000th edition at the end of this month by producing one of the biggest issues in its 84-year history.

The issue contains a rare in-depth interview with Formula 1 sensation Lewis Hamilton, who talks about his admiration for the late, great Ayrton Senna. “Senna had that little extra edge, that’s why I admired him,” says Lewis. “I feel I have that extra edge, too.”

For Moto GP fans, there’s a revealing interview with multiple World Champion Valentino Rossi, who says that he plans to move into car racing when he retires from motorcycles. “I like Ferrari, a lot,” says Rossi, “and I want to do ten years in cars when I finish with the bikes.”

Expect a bumper crop of other great features in this issue as well:

- We salute the achievements of Porsche in its 60th anniversary year, selecting its 10 most important racing cars from its incredible history.

- Williams passed a major milestone in Italy this year with its 500th GP. We speak to its star drivers, including Damon Hill, Nigel Mansell, Jacques Laffite, David Coulthard, Keke Rosberg and Alan Jones, about what it’s like to drive for one of the greatest racing teams ever.

- Simon Taylor meets Professor Sid Watkins for his latest ‘Lunch with…’ feature. The neurosurgeon who transformed the way Grand Prix drivers are cared for in the event of an accident talks movingly about his life in the sport and the drivers he befriended.

- We flash back through the history of Motor Sport magazine and its main characters – namely founding editor Bill Boddy and famed Continental Correspondent Denis ‘Jenks’ Jenkinson, the man who accompanied Stirling Moss to victory in the Mille Miglia, and was also a World Sidecar Champion.

That’s just some of the highlights to expect from this special collectors’ edition of ‘the original motor racing magazine.’
