Goodwood Breakfast Club

It wasn’t until I was driving down the A3 on a very wet Sunday morning (at a relatively antisocial 7am) to Goodwood for the Supercar Breakfast Club meeting, and looked in my rear view mirror, that I realised how much effort supercar owners were going to in order to parade their pride and joy in front of like-minded people and exchange notes about engine sizes and leather seat colour schemes.

I saw five speeding Ferraris go past me in convoy – I gave chase, but was sadly only rewarded with a higher pitched squeal from my tamed-beast of a Smart. The two F430s, the 599, F50 and Testarossa disappeared into the rain leaving me with Justin Timberlake and Madonna.

Motor Sport’s aim at Goodwood’s Breakfast Club was to drive the message that we are quickly becoming the best motor sport magazine around, so I was busy handing out issues to drivers and our editor Damien Smith was on hand to talk to readers and woo them, in dulcet tones, about our latest coverage.

Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Maseratis, McLarens, and Aston Martins were in out in force and for me, the highlight was the pack of Bugatti Veyrons, which were lined up on the starting grid of the Goodwood Circuit.

A delicious organic breakfast of bacon and egg baps was served throughout the morning to the super car enthusiasts – all produce was home reared at Goodwood. I look forward to attending the next meeting on 6th July and its theme is ‘soft top Sunday’ – can’t wait! I might even take the top off the Smart.

You are becoming the best mag. But we really do need a slightly better results service. Why not print F1 grids and results in paragraph form along with perhaps GP2, IRL, F3 etc.? Why only print the top 8 of certain championships and reprint them month after month. Would it not be better to use these 2 pages as classified results pages for various series and print each race result in full and only once?

Why is it that sentences which start, “With all due respect” invariably follow with everything but? One is bound to wonder whence Little Chris gets his nick-name (not)!
